Kelsea Ballerini is in the midst of her first headlining tour and it’s proving to be a thrilling adventure.
The songstress recently played her first headlining show in her hometown of Knoxville, Tenn, and it was an emotional experience.
“I pumped myself up, like, ‘Go into boss mode and go out there and do your best show ever,'” she told One Country’s Kelly Sutton. “The whole time I was whipping my hair and strutting. Trying to be really cool.”
And it worked for most of the show.
“Then, for the encore I go out into the audience,” she continues. “I went out — and it was just me and my guitar — and I up and I see two of my really good friends from high school and my dad. I lost it.”
As the emotions took over, she realized that she was in a room with her early champions and early critics.
“Then I looked around and I saw so many people,” she said. “It’s the people that said you could and the people who said I couldn’t all in the same room. It was crazy.”
