Let’s give it all up for the Academy of Country Music! With their 55th annual award show, set for April 5, postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the ACM has stepped up and is using their allotted television time to play hosts to some of country music’s biggest brightest, all while maintaining the required social distancing.

In an unprecedented move, the ACM will host the virtual concert, ACM Presents: Our Country. Our Country brings favorite country artists performing acoustically from their homes to yours via video chat. In addition to music, there will be interviews and conversations with stars, along with historic clips from the ACM’s vast archives of award shows and performances. Considering the state of the nation, this is bound to be an evening high on emotion and filled with the kind of hope and peace that music can provide.
“Although the highly anticipated 55th ACM Awards show is unable to take place on April 5th due to the health crisis, we still wanted to deliver fans an entertaining ACM Country Music special as planned,” said Damon Whiteside, CEO of the Academy of Country Music. “We are thrilled to announce ‘ACM Presents: Our Country,’ an all-new special that allows fans to connect with their favorite Country artists and to relive some of the greatest moments of the ACM Awards, all from the comfort and safety of their own homes.”
The Academy will be announcing participating artists in the weeks to come, but since most artists are sequestered in their homes anyway due to concert and tour delays, this could be one of the most fun nights of country music a person could enjoy in their P.J.s! And since the performances are acoustic, fans will get the rare opportunity to hear some of these songs the way they were written.
ACM Presents: Our Country will broadcast on April 5th at 7pm CT on CBS. No firm date has been set for the ACM Awards but officials are currently looking at September for the rescheduled show.
