Keith Urban Jumps Out of Loretta Lynn’s Birthday Cake During Star-Studded Celebration

Two weeks before her actual 87th birthday on April 14, Loretta Lynn threw a birthday bash to end all birthday bashes. With stars like George Strait, Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert and more paying tribute to the queen of country, the night couldn’t have been better. Or could it?

One thing that definitely made the night better was the special surprise by Keith Urban. Let us take you back.

When Loretta announced that she would be having the birthday celebration, the first one she’s had in her 87 years, she was utterly excited about the event. “I am so excited to celebrate my 87th birthday with all my friends,” said Loretta after the announcement. “This is the first time I’ve ever had a birthday party! My birthday wish has come true.”

But there was one more thing that Loretta had wished for that eventing. “The only other wish I have is that Keith Urban jumps out of my birthday cake!” Not a bad wish. After Keith got wind of the wish he responded by saying, “your wish is always my command Miss Loretta!!!!” And the Australian singer came through Monday night (April 1) during the birthday party held at Bridgestone arena in Nashville.

As a giant cake with candles was wheeled out on stage, the crowd joined together to sing Happy Birthday to the legend. Just as the crowd got to “happy birthday dear Loretta,” out popped a singing Keith to the delight of fans.

The “Blue Ain’t Your Color”singer finished the song, jumped out of the cake and kissed Loretta on the forehead, wishing her a very happy birthday. Cam, who was playing emcee during the show said to Loretta, “you don’t have to let him go, he can sit in your lap for the rest of the night if you want.” It was Loretta’s night after all.

Keith took to Twitter following the show, thank Loretta for a wonderful night and to wish her a Happy Birthday.

“Miss Loretta- you asked me to jump out of a cake for you- and I would do it again every time!,” Keith wrote. “Thank you for a truly surreal and gorgeous night of music , heart, stories , magic , and LOVE!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!! Love ALWAYS. – KU.”
