Kelly Clarkson wowed yet another crowd during her opening performance at the 2018 U.S. Open.
Kelly took to center court at Arthur Ashe Stadium performing some of her biggest hits, including “Heartbeat Song,” “Miss Independent” and “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).”
Kicking off the 50th anniversary of the famed tennis tournament, held in Flushing, New York, Kelly got the crowd warmed up with her 2006 hit, “Walk Away.”
But it was when the Grammy winner broke out into her upbeat hit, “Stronger,” that brought out the New York accent from the Texas native.
“Thank you so much Arthur Ashe for having us, New Yawk for having us,” throwing in her best New York accent. “We’re so excited to perform at the U.S. Open. I love opening for Serena Williams.” With that, the pop star broke into “Stronger.”
Kelly has been a good luck opener for Serena. The tennis star defeated Kaia Kanepi of Estonia to advance to the quarter finals.
