Kelsea Ballerini’s Realistic Performance of “I Hate Love Songs” Is Making Us Hate Love Songs Too

Just days before the 53rd Annual ACM Awards, Kelsea Ballerini made the trek to L.A. to appear on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.”

Kelsea was the musical guest, performing her current single, “I Hate Love Songs.” She joined fellow country singer Reba McEntire and Lucy Hale on the show.

“it was a good night. @rebait was good to hug you @lucyhale it was good to see your pretty face, and @j_corden were gonna be buddies,” Kelsea posted on Instagram.

Dressed in a pale pink tuxedo dress, surrounded by five oversized chandeliers, Kelsea belted out the tune. Her seductive vocals pulled us in, making us believe we hate love songs too.

I hate Shakespeare and Gosling and cakes with white frosting.
Two names in a heart-shaped tattoo.
I think cupid is stupid and violets are purple not blue.
I hate catching bouquets, the honeymoon phase.
And letterman jackets don’t fit .
Your eyes can’t hold stars and you’d die if your heart really skipped,
” she begins the song.

While we may agree with the 24-year-olds take, we can’t completely give up on love songs. There will always be a soft spot in our hearts for those sappy, mushy songs that push the love emotion button.

But “I Hate Love Songs” is a great vacation for the sap. We need more of it. Sing it Kelsea and sing it loud.
