Just days after adopting 18-year-old Poochie from Nashville’s Proverbs 12:10 animal rescue, Luke and Caroline Bryan have just shared the heartbreaking news that the new addition to their family has passed away.
Caroline shared a poignant post on her Instagram page that featured photos of the silver-muzzled pup enjoying his time at the Bryan home, which included walks around their property.
In the caption, she wrote, “‘If the kindest souls were rewarded with the longest lives, dogs would outlive us all.’” My heart is sad but full to post this..our sweet Prince Poochie has passed away. He lived 18 years and was loved by so many people. My kids especially loved to hear him snore when he slept! Thank you @proverbs1210animalrescue for giving our family the opportunity to love this sweet dog. And thank you to @abbysmyers @nicolebobek @erin_creighton_ @framigosperfecto for your big hearts. Poochie loved you all. #adoptdontshop“

As we previously reported, Caroline met the senior pup during an area adoption drive. An obvious heart for animals in need, she brought Poochie home to live out the rest of his days with the other pets and livestock in Brett’s Barn.
Brett’s Barn began as a way for Caroline and Luke to remember their infant niece, Sadie Brett Boyer, who passed away at 7-months-old from complications of Downs Syndrome and a congenital heart defect. Caroline had promised her niece a white pony and although Brett lost her courageous battle, her auntie kept that promise.
