Luke Combs Releases the Party Anthem Beer Never Broke My Heart Video for Summer [Watch]

If you’re keeping track, Luke Combs is five for five. All five singles he has released to country radio have climbed all the way to the top of the charts.

“Beer Never Broke My Heart” should make him six for six.

The brand new single—the first from what will be his sophomore album—is a much-welcomed breath of fresh country air in an environment that its mostly dominated by pop grooves, arrangements, and production. And a cheeky, fun, fist-pumping video is the icing on the cake.

Set in the perfect dive bar-honky tonk combo, Luke and his boys play the house band. After thanking his “crowd” of half a dozen, Luke’s drummer counts off the beat until he’s joined by a swampy banjo and a gritty guitar. As the arrangement builds and the lyrics develop, the crowd begins to grow. And as Luke’s performance becomes more impassioned, that “crowd” gets even bigger, even rowdier.

Or so it would seem.

Don’t look for a deep, profound meaning behind this rockin’ romp. We already know that Luke is more than capable enough as both a singer and a songwriter to pull off a turn of phrase, a clever lyric, a bitter ache, or a tender tear to do any musical heavy lifting that he’s required to do, but it’s been since 2017’s “When It Rains It Pours” that we’ve heard and seen his sense of humor and honky tonk attitude unfurled in such fine fashion.

Released at the perfect time, we expect to hear this blasting across the lake all summer long.
