8 Best Things I Saw During the CMA Music Festival

Without a doubt, the CMA Music Festival is one of the best things about being a country music fan. The festival is a jam-packed 5 days of free shows, surprise shows, up-close-and-personal interactions with your favorite country music stars and a great way to lose a little weight walking from stage to stage in the summer heat.

I’m not normally a big proponent of returning from a trip and immediately telling someone, “you HAVE to go to…” but, if you’re a fan of country music, this is a must-do type of event.

I was in Nashville for 6 full days of nothing but country music and these were the 8 best things I saw during the CMA Music Festival:

1. Carrie Underwood‘s New Haircut and Legs

I don’t know any leg workout I could do for any amount of time that would end in my legs even looking remotely like Carrie’s legs. She deserves some type of fitness award or like, a gala in her honor. Also, that new, low-key haircut works.

Not to mention– her voice sounded amazing during her LP Field performance. Must be something in the water. Literally.

2. Kelsea Ballerini’s Diverse Fan Base

During Kelsea‘s intimate performance at the HGTV Lodge, she noted how cool it was to see fans sing along to her songs– songs not on the radio yet. She was so overwhelmed at one point she just stopped singing altogether. At this point, I started really paying attention to just who was singing along with Kelsea and it wasn’t just teenage girls in the front row. It was everyone– grown men included. Now, I can’t wait to teach my dad all the words to “Dibs.”

3. Little Big Town (Girl) Crush(ing) LP Field

Show me four people more talented and more beloved than Karen, Jimi, Kimberly and Phillip right now. You can’t do it. LBT rocked a small stage, the big stage and kicked around some beach balls in the process.

4. Brett Eldredge‘s Eyes

I was able to get this close to Brett Eldredge and those dreamy eyes of his. Everything is different now.

5. Chris Young’s Megawatt Smile

After Chris Young‘s set at LP Field the crowd met him with the loudest applause I heard all week. Not only could he not leave the stage, he couldn’t stop smiling from ear-to-ear. It was a fantastic moment for him and everyone else there.

Last night was incredible! Thank you all for making me the happiest guy on earth – because of you, I get to do what I love everyday!

6. Charles Kelley’s Shirt

Normally, Charles Kelley is a sleek, stylish dresser. Other times, he wears a Hawaiian shirt and calls it a day.

7. Luke Bryan Continuing the Show

No words.

8. Maddie & Tae

I don’t know that I have ever wanted two girls to succeed more than I want Maddie & Tae to succeed. They got to sing two songs at LP Field and nailed it.

If you weren’t in Nashville to partake in the greatness, you can catch “CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock” on Tuesday, August 4 on ABC.
