Jeneve Mitchell lives “off the grid” in the Elk Wilderness in Colorado. The 15-year-old rancher doesn’t have electricity and has to turn on a generator just to watch “American Idol.” Instead of watching TV she’s usually riding horses or playing music. All of that to say– she’s not your normal teenager.

Jeneve’s driveway is over a mile long, but she strutted into the audition room full of musical legends Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr., like she grew up in Madison Square Garden. Armed only with a cello, she wowed the judges with her “crazy, stupid funk” and cover The Band Perry’s “Chainsaw.”

Unreal.

Let’s also mention– Jeneve taught herself to play string bass, violin, cello, banjo, guitar and harp. Maybe we should all live without electricity.
