As country stars descended on Las Vegas for the ACM Awards on Sunday (April 15), the victims of the Route 91 Music Festival shooting were not far from their minds.
While walking the blue carpet, many artists were seen wearing gold pins with the number 851 or 58. That number represents the amount of people injured and killed, respectively, during the senseless shooting. With 851 injured during the shooting and 58 lost, stars took to Instagram to share their thoughts.
“Tonight I’m gonna wear these pins for the 851 injured, the 58 lost and the 1 life we can save in the future if we’re willing to start a conversation about things that need to be done for our children, our families and our fans,” LBT’s Karen Fairchild wrote.
Kimberly Schlapman also posted her message saying, “I’m so grateful to be a part of a community that’s based on faith and family and taking care of each other. Tonight was about coming together in love to honor those we’ve lost and those who have been forever changed. We love you fans and Las Vegas. ❤ #vegasstrong #58 #851 #1#acmawards.”
As the ACM show opened up, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Maren Morris and Thomas Rhett shared words of comfort with fans. October 1, 2017 is a day country music will never forget.
