Adam Wakefield’s soulful, gruff voice and looks seem to be reminiscent of Chris Stapleton on “The Voice,” which makes him a fan and judge favorite.

For his first live performance of the season, Adam went with “Seven Spanish Angels,” originally by Ray Charles and Willie Nelson. The tune was originally released in 1984 off of Nelson’s Half Nelson album and was a No. 1 hit for the duo.

Adam’s performance was somewhere in between a slow, moody Nelson performance and an energetic, lively Charles performance.
