Alan Jackson, the late Jerry Reed and songwriter Don Schlitz were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame Sunday night (Oct. 22).

As part of the private Medallion Ceremony, Hall of Fame members Bobby Bare, Vince Gill and Connie Smith were on hand to present each of the new members with their medallions and welcome them into the Hall of Fame family.

Jerry Reed’s daughters, Lottie Zavala and Seidina Hubbard, accepted the honor on behalf of their father. Known for his movie roles in “Smokey and the Bandit” as much as his hit songs “East Bound and Down” and “Amos Moses,”Jerry passed away in 2008 at the age of 71.

During the ceremony, Loretta Lynn made a special appearance—after suffering a stroke in May— to help Connie Smith and George Strait induct Alan Jackson into the Hall. The “Coal Miner’s Daughter” singer later took the stage with George, Connie and Alan for a heartwarming rendition of “Will The Circle Be Unbroken.”

Alan took to Instagram to post a photo of himself and Loretta with a caption that read, “”@lorettalynnofficial said I needed to be here. That’s all I needed to hear.”

Don Schlitz received his honor from Vince Gill, who later joined Aloe Blacc on stage to perform one of Don’s hits, “The Gambler.” Don has penned many hits for country artists over the year including, Mary Chapin Carpenter’s “I Feel Lucky,” Randy Travis’ “Forever and Ever Amen,” Keith Whitley’s “When You Say Nothing at All,” Reba McEntire’s “One Promise Too Late
