Alan Jackson was mysteriously missing from the ACM Honors Wednesday night, where he was scheduled to accept the Cliffie Stone award.
Alan’s daughter Mattie Jackson Selecman accepted the award, which honors an artist who throughout their career has advanced the popularity of the genre through their contributions, on her father’s behalf. Chris Stapleton was on hand to perform Alan’s hit “Here in the Real World.”
But no Alan. Fans have since learned that the “Chattahoochee” singer was ill with a respiratory infection and could not attend the ceremony. Alan took to Instagram to share his thanks for his award and address his absence.
“Just want to thank everybody at the ACMs for honoring me with the Cliffie Stone Award last night at the Ryman. I’m sorry I couldn’t be there to personally accept it. Special thanks to my daughter Mattie who accepted for me. And thank you to Chris Stapleton, Jon Pardi and Lauren Alaina for honoring me with their musical talents.
“And most of all thank you to all my fans for their prayers and well wishes as I continue to recover from a respiratory infection. I’m on the mend and will be back to normal soon!”
Get well soon, Alan.
