Ashley McBryde’s powerful song about never giving up will be her next radio single. “Girl Goin’ Nowhere,” a song Ashley penned about a high school algebra teacher who told her that her dream of becoming a songwriter will never come to fruition, will be released to country radio on Jan. 14.

The stripped down ballad was penned by Ashley with Jeremy Bussey, and is featured on her Grammy-nominated debut album of the same name.

“Don’t waste your life behind that guitar / You may get gone, but you won’t get far / You’re not the first, you won’t be the last / And you can tell us all about it when you come crawling back / That road you’re on, just winds and winds / Your spinning your wheels and wasting you’re time,” she sings on the song’s first verse.

The Arkansas native proved that teacher wrong countless times last year when she made her Opry debut, released her debut album in March and received her very first Grammy nomination. “Girl Goin’ Nowhere” is the title track of her debut project, which recently received a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album.

“Girl Goin’ Nowhere” is the follow-up to previous single, “Radioland.” Another personal song, Ashley penned that track as well and it tells the story of her childhood growing up in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, and paints the vivid picture of a home filled with music. “Radioland” followed her debut single, “A Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega.”
