To us, the fans, the show that takes place on an artist’s tour stop looks fun, flawless and, for the most part, super easy — but, in reality, it’s anything but. Typically, the process that goes into planning a tour is tough, intricate and takes a ton of time.
In a recent behind-the-scenes video, country music icon Blake Shelton gave fans an in depth look at what it takes to plan a tour — and it makes me appreciate the experience that much more. For Blake, it’s important to try out and test fan reactions to the songs he wants to play, so, in this video, the 40-year-old talent took us along as he gave a free, impromptu show in Birmingham, Alabama.
“I gotta get a setlist together,” Blake said. “So, what I’m going to do tonight is walk out on stage and probably perform, maybe, every single that I’ve ever had out and just see which ones feel best to me now. You know, a lot has changed since this time last year. I’ve filmed two and a half seasons of ‘The Voice‘ since then, I’ve gotten a divorce, got a girlfriend, I’ve toured, now I’m putting together another tour, I’ve done two movies — it’s been insane. I think my show’s probably going to reflect those differences and the things that have happened in my life since then.”
I think it’s safe to say that any Blake fan would be happy to hear any song he wants to sing.
