Blake Shelton is fed up with imposters on social media and he’s enlisted the help of his fellow country fans to take a stand against fake accounts. So listen up.

After 18 country acts introduce themselves in a PSA video, Blake kicks it all off. “Hey y’all, I’m Blake Shelton and I want to talk to you about something that’s important: imposters on social media,” he says.  “So we want to make sure you know how to spot the signs of the fake accounts. Like the ones called ‘Blakey Shelton’—that’s bullshit.”

“KellyClarksonabc123 that’s not real,” Kelly adds.

“At Keithurban487, that’s not me. This is my secret account that management don’t know anything about. Complete bullshit,” Keith adds.

So look for the blue check mark next to your favorite artists name and you’ll know it’s real. Artists will never ask you for money. If an account bearing the artists name does that, it’s NOT them. So be aware.

Country artists that joined the fight, include Keith Urban, Hunter Hayes, Lindsay Ell, Kelly Clarkson, Maren Morris, Rascal Flatts, Dustin Lynch, Kip Moore, Jon Pardi, Jake Owen, Travis Denning, Brett Young, Maggie Rose, Trace Adkins, Old Dominion, Cale Dodds, Cole Swindell and Michael Ray.

Blake closes out the PSA with sage advice. “Never give out any of your private information. If you do, you’re [email protected]#’in dumb,” he jokes.

“But seriously,” Rascal Flatts concludes, “Be cautious. Report those fake accounts. Never give out any of your private information. Thank you so much for being the best fans in the entire world.”
