The 2018 CMT Artists of the Year Awards is a show not to be missed. Highlighting all female artists, the awards will also showcase a mostly female-based performance roster.
Each Artist of the Year honoree will perform, including Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman and Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott. Throughout the evening these women will be teaming up with a varied list of female artists across generations and genre lines live from Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Oct. 17.
Carrie will be joined on stage by her Cry Pretty tour mates and CMT Next Women of Country, Maddie & Tae and Runaway June. Meanwhile, Pistol Annies will premiere new music from their upcoming Nov. 2 release, “Interstate Gospel.” Kelsea will join forces with Alison Krauss while soul legend Gladys Knight will sing with Little Big Town’s Kimberly and Karen. Additionally, Lady A’s Hillary Scott is set to perform with Tori Kelly and Grammy-winning gospel artist, Kirk Franklin. Maren will take the stage with Brandi Carlile as the two singers pay tribute to the late Aretha Franklin.
Loretta Lynn will also be on hand and celebrated with the Artist of a Lifetime Award presented by Ram Trucks. “I’m always so proud when I receive any awards for my music, but when I heard it was this year’s “Artist of a Lifetime” award it made me really happy,” Loretta previously said in a statement.
Since the CMT Artists of the Year will be honoring females at its annual awards show this year, the station will extend their commitment of showcasing female talent throughout numerous platforms. On Oct. 17, the station will celebrate with a day-long “Women of Country Music” takeover across all CMT platforms including CMT, the 24/7 digital channel CMT Music and CMT Radio’s syndicated shows “CMT Radio LIVE” and “CMT After Midnite.”
