The 2nd AIMP Nashville Awards were recently held at the Ryman Auditorium and though Brandy Clark didn’t win any awards, she totally stole the show with her cover of Eric Church’s “Kill A Word.”
Clark was on-hand as a nominee for Writer of the Year and “Kill A Word” was nominated for AIMP Song of the Year. Written by Eric Church, Luke Dick, Jeff Hyde the tune is off of Church’s CMA Album of the Year Mr. Misunderstood.
For the album version, Church had help from the incomparable Rhiannon Giddens, but Clark totally nailed her cover work.

Allllll the chills tonight as @thebrandyclark sang one of my favorite songs of the year at the @aimpnashville Awards, "Kill A Word" (@ericchurchmusic). I love this town and how much they champion the songwriter. 🏆 . . . #ryman #rymanauditorium #aimpawards #songwriters #countrymusic #nashville #killaword #ericchurch #brandyclark @gellmanmgmt
