There aren’t too many people who don’t love a happy ending, but in Brothers Osborne’s new music video for “I Don’t Remember Me (Before You),” it seems like we might not get that fairytale happily-ever-after.

At first.

The black-and-white video showcases the gritty life of being a rodeo cowboy, a bull rider specifically. His body ravaged by the demands of his sport, the athlete leans on the usual cocktail of painkillers and alcohol, then, in addition to the pain, he suffers from the repercussions that come with addiction. Interspersed in the rodeo footage of his rides, are vignettes of the man coping with his pain while trying to cultivate a relationship with a woman.

As the video nears what we think is the inevitable tragic and heartbreaking end, we see that, much like the songs lyrics imply, life can offer a second chance, an opportunity for an about-face.

The video isn’t without an appearance from brothers John and T.J. John appears in the footage as a bull wrangler, while T.J. is featured as a paramedic in the ambulance. Keep watching though, the end takes a heartwarming turn.

“I Don’t Remember Me (Before You)” is just the second single from Brothers Osborne’s critically acclaimed second studio album, Port Saint Joe. The reigning CMA Vocal Duo of the Year has also extended their incredibly successful 2018 world tour into 2019 and have filled their calendar with stops at clubs, ballrooms, and theaters around the United States through April.
