Some singers couldn’t be awful if they tried. Take Carrie Underwood for example. Is she even capable of singing badly? We doubted it before, but now we’re even more certain after the breathtaking vocalists sucked a hit of helium and performed “Happy Birthday.”
As expected, Carrie and husband Mike Fisher celebrated firstborn son Isaiah’s birthday on his actual birthday, Feb. 27. And when your mom is one of the most popular and gifted artists in the entire music industry, not just country, you expect she’s going to deliver an epic rendition of the birthday song. But the just-turned-four-year-old got more than he bargained for.
Holding a bright yellow balloon in one hand and cradling baby brother Jacob with the other, Carrie takes a long draw of helium and doesn’t just sing the regular version, she adds a vocal run worthy of the late Whitney Houston. And Isaiah is delighted.
Of course, since singing isn’t the only thing she does well, Carrie then hands the ballon to her boy and encourages him to give the vocal manipulation a try.
Meanwhile, Jacob appears to sleep through the entire thing. That is parenting done right.
Carrie will be enjoying a couple more months at home with her boys before hitting the road on the “Cry Pretty 360 Tour.” The first show is May 1 in Greensboro, North Carolina and will hit 55 arenas in the U.S. and Canada before wrapping up in October. Runaway June and Maddie & Tae will join Carrie for the tour.
