It’s been 10 years since Carrie Underwood became a member of the Grand Ole Opry and Friday night the Oklahoma native returned to the stage for a celebration befitting the superstar.
In March 2008, Carrie was invited to be a member of the Opry by none other than Randy Travis, surprising the singer after she just performed the No. 1 hit, “I Told You So,” originally recorded by Randy. Later, Garth Brooks had the honor of inducting Carrie to the family in May, 2008.
Ten years later, after performing “I Told You So” again, Carrie received another surprise visit by the “Three Wooden Crosses” singer. “Ten years have flown by,” Carrie said.”I knew from the moment God blessed me and let me sing country music that I wanted to be a part of this place. Thank you for being here.”
Carrie later took to Instagram to share her special night and to thank some of her celebrity friends for their support.
“What an incredible night celebrating 10 years of being in this amazing @opry family,” she wrote. “Thank you, #RandyTravis for always being so sweet to me! Thanks, @garthbrooks for the flowers! Thanks @bradpaisley #CrystalGayle@vincegillofficial and @reba for the kind words and messages! A special thanks to my Opry family and all the people on my team for the wonderful surprises! Thank you, fans, for all the love and support you have always given and continue to give. Thank you @iveycakestore for the beautiful and delicious cake. And, last, but not least, thank you to the Bologna Lady and my @umgnashville family for being here to celebrate!!! My heart is full…”
