After taking the top spot on the “The Voice,” Chevel Shepherd’s life is a whirlwind. The 16-year-old has been making the rounds, getting a crash course in media training, when she stopped by the Extra set to talk with Mario Lopez about her historic win.

“It was crazy because I looked shocked,” she said. “I was still trying to process it all in my head—the fact that I won ‘The Voice” because I had been dreaming about it since I was a little girl. And now here I am. So it’s really cool.”

Chevel made “The Voice” history by becoming the first country artist to win the show that was not coached by Blake Shelton. “It’s crazy, I made history,” Chevel said.

After sharing advice she got from her coach Kelly and describing her as “amazing,” Chevel shared her plans for the future.

“I’m gonna go home and hang out with all the people that are in my town and just thank them personally,” Chevel revealed. “Then I’m going to start working on an album with Kelly.”
