Chris Lane is basking in the glow of success his sophomore album Laps Around the Sun has brought him. Following the album’s release last week, Chris visited “Today” on Tuesday morning (July 17) where he performed his current single “Take Back Home Girl.”

Currently a top 10 single, “Take Back Home Girl” features Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Tori Kelly, who accompanied Chris for his debut “Today” studio performance in New York City. Chris and Tori’s voices complimented each other well as they traded verses and harmonized on the song’s soulful chorus. While Chris made his debut on “Today,” he kept his cool and was at ease on stage throughout his four-minute performance.

Ahead of singing “Take Back Home Girl,” Chris told “Today” co-host Hoda Kotb that his mom, dad and dog, Rudy, were tuning in back home. After saying a quick hello to his dog, he discussed his latest album.

“I just wanted songs that would connect with people and make people feel something, a good little summer vibe and hopefully I accomplished that,” he said.

Chris looked relaxed, dressed in jeans, a white t-shirt and short-sleeve button down striped top and he and duet partner Tori traded smiles throughout the song. The track allowed Tori to shine vocally and Chris stepped back to give her the spotlight several times throughout the performance. As the song concluded the two singers embraced in a hug before Hoda joined in to congratulate them.

Chris’ Laps Around the Sun was released on July 13 and hit No. 1 on the iTunes Top Country Albums chart. It features 14 songs and includes tracks penned by Chris and Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley. Laps Around the Sun was produced by Joey Moi,

“There’s always room to evolve and to keep growing, but I think people are definitely gonna be able to see the growth from first record to this record, and probably even from this record to the next and so on,” Chris tells One Country of his new project.
