This is Us fans are in for a treat as it’s star Chrissy Metz has released a brand new single, “Actress.”

“I love a good break up song and I love the play on words,” said Chrissy of the song. “Obviously, I’m an actress, but we have all had those experiences where we put on that brave face when our heart is just broken, we act as if nothing is wrong even though you’re dying inside- wanting something so desperately you don’t have anymore.”

Written by Metz, Nicolette Hayford, Matt McGinn and Nathan Spicer, “Actress” is the followup to Chrissy’s debut single “Talking to God,” which hits country radio in July. Both songs will be included on the 39-year-old’s upcoming debut album, scheduled to be out later this year.

The earnest tune, has Chrissy singing about what she knows best, being an actress. However, in this case, she is using her acting abilities to mask her true feelings after running into an ex love and his new flame.

Thank God I’m an actress / he don’t know what’s on my mind / and even thought I’m laughin’ / I ain’t havin’ a good time / and that’s the real him happy / but for me it’s just a lie / he won’t ever know / ever know, tonight / Thank God I’m an actress.”

The actress, who plays Kate Pearson on NBC’s This is Us, signed a recording contract with Nashville’s Universal Music Group, following her starring role in the film Breakthrough.

“To say I am excited to fulfill a lifelong dream is an understatement,” Chrissy said of her signing. “Music has always been my first love and to be working alongside Cindy Mabe and the incomparable team at UMG is truly a gift!”
