Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Chris Stapleton and FGL Named 2017 Artists of the Year

It’s that time of year again. CMT has revealed the list of five deserving country artists to honor during the eighth annual Artist of the Year special.

This year’s deserving group includes heavy hitters Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Chris Stapleton and Keith Urban.

Past winners of the honor include Carrie Underwood, Thomas Rhett, Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, Sam Hunt, Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Hunter Hayes, Lady Antebellum, Toby Keith, Eric Church, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley and Zac Brown Band.

The eighth annual Artist of the Year special honors country artists who have had the biggest year overall. Jason and Luke have received this honor six previous times. Florida Georgia Line will pick up their fifth honor this year and Keith Urban and Chris Stapleton will nab their second award.

This year’s special will be about more than just the music, as the show will honor those impacted by Hurricane Harvey and the many volunteers contributing rescue and recovery efforts. Additional awards, performers and special guests will be announced at a later date.

Luke and FGL have already taken to Instagram to post their thank yous for the honor. “Thanks @cmt for making me a #CMTAOTY for another year. Means a lot,” Luke said.

FGL posted, “We’re honored to be named one of @cmt‘s Artists of the Year alongside so many incredible artists & friends. Thank you to CMT & all our awesome fans. We’ll see y’all live from Nashville on October 18! #CMTAOTY

You can catch the CMT Artists of the Year special when it airs live from the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville on Oct. 18 on CMT.
