Back in 2012, Anna Kendrick performed “Cups (When I’m Gone)” in the wildly successful movie, “Pitch Perfect.” The movie version of the song reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became “one of those songs.” Every teenager in the land was covering it at the dinner table, school talent show and then some. The song was everywhere.
Craig Morgan is an old-school country singer who bravely and selflessly served in the U.S. Army, he’s a favorite at the Grand Ole Opry and he hosts a hunting show on the Outdoor Channel. Basically, he’s the last person on earth I ever thought would fall victim to the “Cups” song, but he did and it’s awesome.
Before a show in Louisville, Kentucky, Craig and his crew took to the streets for the impromptu performance of his newest single, “When I’m Gone” and now I feel different (and better) about “Cups.”
“When I’m Gone,” available now for fans to download at iTunes.
