Dan + Shay’s Vocal-Only Performance of “Tequila” and “Speechless” Will Have You Wanting More

Dan + Shay prove why they’re country music’s most promising act with their vocal-only performance of recent chart topper “Tequila” and new single “Speechless.” The duo, made up of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, showcase their spellbinding harmonies on the stripped down tracks.

On “Tequila,” the duo’s songwriting ability is highlighted as is their vocal talent. Their fourth No. 1 single and most streamed song to date, the musically stripped track shows how spot-on vocals are key to making a song propel up the charts.

Their vocal-only take on “Speechless,” further exemplifies the duo’s talent as vocalists. While Shay takes lead on the track, Dan provides perfect harmony on the sweet love ballad. The song, which was written in honor of the singers’ wives, is even more powerful when the accompanying music is stripped from the track. “Speechless” was penned by Dan and Shay with Jordan Reynolds and Laura Veltz.

“I’m speechless staring at you standing there in that dress / What it’s doing to me ain’t a secret / ‘Cause watching you is all that I can do / And I’m speechless / You already know that you’re my weakness / After all this time I’m just as nervous / Every time you walk into the room I’m speechless,” they sing on the chorus.

“Speechless is definitely inspired by our wives,” Shay says in a statement. “It’s very cool to release songs that are not only stories of our lives but also very personal experiences. Seeing our wives for the first time in their wedding dresses was absolutely unforgettable and we talked about that while writing the song and bringing that moment to life in this song.”

Country fans will get to hear these memorable harmonies live throughout the rest of 2018 as Dan + Shay are currently on the road with Rascal Flatts’ Back To Us Tour. When that tour wraps, they’ll join Chris Young for his fall leg of the Losing Sleep Tour in October.
