Dolly Parton Brings “9 to 5” Across the Pond For New London Musical

Dolly Parton is taking her “9 to 5” hit across the pond to London’s West End for the British musical, based on the classic film.

The play, inspired by the film and featuring original music written by Dolly, stars British personalities Louise Redknapp, Natalie McQueen, Amber Davies and Brian Conley as Franklin Hart.

Dolly took to Instagram to share the news with a fun video that stars herself and the actors of the play.

In the clip, the iconic singer makes calls to all three actors, getting them started for the day. “You’ve got work to do,” she says as they stumble out of bed. That’s when the signature “9 to 5” song, written by Dolly, plays in the background.

“Y’all get ready because the @9to5theMusicalUK is hitting London’s West End!, Dolly wrote in her post.  “It’s inspired by the film and features all original music written by me, y’all don’t want to miss this!”

In the original film, released in 1980,  Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, play three women who each work their 9 to 5 jobs under a chauvinistic boss, played by Dabney Coleman.

Jane Fonda recently revealed, during a press event for the Television Critics Association that plans are in the works to make a sequel to the classic movie.

“Right now, Dolly, Lily and I are all intending to be in it,” she said at the event.

Fingers crossed.
