National Treasure Dolly Parton reunited with legendary “9 to 5” co-stars, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, during the 69th Annual EMMY Awards and just their names brought on a standing ovation from every A-lister in the building.
As the crowd calmed down, Parton mentioned she’s been asking for a reunion with her longtime friends for decades, to which the following exchange happened:
Fonda: “Back in 1980, in that movie, we refused to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot.”
Tomlin: “And in 2017, we still refuse to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot.”
From there, Parton did her part to limit the political talk and get down to presenting the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie. How did she do it? By making a boob joke like only Parton can.
Parton: “Well, I know about support! Hadn’t been for good support…Shock and Awe here would be more like Flopsy and Droopy… I’m just here to have a good time tonight…I’m just hoping that I am going to get one of those ‘Grace and Frankie’ vibrators in my swag bag today.”
Nothing will break up talking about politics like a 70-year-old woman talking about a vibrator. That’s for sure.
And for the record, if you don’t react like this when Parton enters a room– you need to change your ways.
