Eric Church is gearing up for the release of his first new album in 3 years, titled Desperate Man. The singer announced the new album, due out on October 5, with a video message saying “Hey guys, it’s been a while. I just want to say I’ve missed you.”

Leading up to the release of his sixth studio album, Eric is now sharing a new track, “Some of It,” from the upcoming project by teasing it on social media. “Yesterday the Church Choir got the first listen to this sample of “Some Of It” from the new album Desperate Man,” he wrote, giving fans not in the Church Choir, Eric’s fan club, an opportunity to hear the tune.

“Some of It” is a second and different taste of what’s to come from Eric’s new offering. Where “Desperate Man” is a ’70s rock n’ roll uptempo song about trying to move on after a lost love, “Some of It,” is laid back tune about life’s lessons—learning them, knowing them and dealing with them.

Some of it, you learn the hard way / some of it, you read on a page / some of it, comes from heartbreak / most of it , comes with age and none of it , ever comes easy / a bunch of it, you maybe can’t use / I know I don’t probably know what I think I’d do / but there’s something to / some of it,” he sings in the chorus.

But that’s all we get of the song for now. We’ll just have to wait until the full version is released.
