While country music is the soundtrack to many of our lives, it also makes a great soundtrack for Hollywood. The upcoming movie, “Forever My Girl,” based on the best-selling romance novel by Heidi McLaughlin, not only stars one of country music’s own, Travis Tritt, it is also loaded with some good ole country music.
Travis plays the role of Walt, a veteran country singer while he also performs the song “Slowing Down” in the upcoming movie. Music producer Brett Boyett called on country music artists to add reality to the project. Lauren Alaina performs “Wings of an Angel” and a duet with Little Big Town’s Phillip Sweet, called “Enough.” In addition, Destin Bennett, Canaan Smith, Josh Turner and Dan Tyminski are featured on the soundtrack.
Written and directed by Bethany Ashton Wolf, “Forever My Girl” is described by the studio as telling the story of country music super-star Liam Page (Alex Roe) who left his bride, Josie (Jessica Rothe), at the altar choosing fame and fortune instead. However, Liam never got over Josie, his one true love, nor did he ever forget his Southern roots in the small community where he was born and raised. When he unexpectedly returns to his hometown for the funeral of his high school best friend, Liam is suddenly faced with the consequences of all that he left behind.”
If you’re looking for your country music fix in the new year, “Forever My Girl” will have plenty of it.
