Could Gabby Barrett and Cade Foehner become the next Tim McGraw and Faith Hill? The “American Idol” Finalists, who are currently dating, teamed up for their own rendition of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s duet, “I Need You.”
In the video posted on Gabby’s Youtube channel, the smitten couple sits facing each other in what looks to be a restroom, as they kick the song off together. As we all know bathrooms have the best acoustics and artists love to sing in bathrooms for just that reason.
The video features only part of the song, coming in at 1:24 total time. Gabby and Cade pick the song up at the second verse, which Faith sings in the original version.
“I wanna get lost in some corner booth, Cantina Mexico / I wanna dance to the static of an AM radio / I wanna wrap the moon around us, lay beside you skin on skin / Make love til the sun comes up, til the sun goes down again / Cause I need you,” they sing.
“Like a needle needs a vein / Like my uncle Joe in Oklahoma needs a rain / I need you Like a lighthouse on the coast / Like the father and the son need the Holy Ghost / I need you, OOH I need you,” they continue in the chorus.
While Tim and Faith take turns on the verses, Gabby and Cade sing their condensed version of the song all together, with Cade taking a line or two by himself.
This isn’t the first time the lovebirds put their talents together. The couple also recorded a cover of Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now,” earlier this summer. We could get used to this.
Gabby placed third on “American Idol,” behind Caleb Lee Hutchinson and winner Maddie Poppe. Her boyfriend, Cade, placed fifth on the show. During her time on “American Idol,” Gabby wasn’t shy about sharing her love of country music, performing hits like Carrie Underwood’s “Good Girl” and “Church Bells” as well as Gretchen Wilson’s “Redneck Woman” during her audition.
In case your curious, here’s Tim and Faith’s version.
