Gabby Barrett made it to the Top 24 of "American Idol."

It took a couple of weeks, but 17-year-old Gabby Barrett from Pittsburgh, finally got to pay tribute to her idol Carrie Underwood on “American Idol.” After being asked to sing anything but Carrie during her original audition, Gabby stayed away from country music until it came to making the top 24.

Before her performance, Gabby shared, “I know it was a risk doing a Carrie Underwood song, but at this point in the competition, you’ve got to give it all or nothing.”

Gabby definitely gave it her all and even drew criticism from judge Katy Perry, who has made it very clear she does not want Gabby singing country music.

However, Gabby made it into the Top 24.

(And another fun fact: Gabby’s “Church Bells” performance aired on the 2nd anniversary of Carrie’s impressive performance of the tune during the ACM Awards– you know, the one with the drum solo.)
