With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Hunter Hayes is getting into the spirit of the lover’s day by serenading a lucky couple who recently exchanged wedding vows on the “Today Show” Friday morning (Feb. 9).
Hunter was asked to perform his No. 1 hit,”Wanted,” which to date has sold over 5 million copies. The wedding was officiated by professional wrestler John Cena.
“It’s always really special to be a part of a couple’s wedding day. This will be something they remember for a long time and performing “Wanted” for them was an honor,” says Hayes. “Wanted” was a song that taught me a lot about songwriting. I didn’t think I was even going to cut it for my debut record and the trajectory of it has been incredible. To have a song I really love be No. 1 for 2 weeks straight and now 5-times Platinum is a great feeling.”
The Louisiana native will be heading back to Nashville to release the final installment of his three-part movie series, “Pictures,” which debuts on Valentine’s Day.
“We have a lot going on right now and a lead up to the next project,” Hunter told hosts Hoda and Kathie Lee. “We released three songs that were all love songs and we put them all together in a story, in a mini-movie if you will—three different music videos came together. They are part of a story that already exists and they’ll be part of a story going forward. They come out on Valentine’s Day.”
