Hunter Hayes’  New Video For “You Should Be Loved” Is A Reminder That Life Is Too Short For Bad Relationships

Hunter Hayes is mixing up the music release playbook. After releasing three album-less songs in 2016, he partnered with Zappos to create music that fuels charity. He is continuing that trend of small projects with “You Should Be Loved” a song a video that calls itself part one of a new venture called Pictures.

Pictures is a totally new experience for me,” Hayes told Forbes. “We’ve never done anything like this and I love how it takes you out of current reality and transports you to a different time and place entirely, where each song tells a piece of the story.”

The three part series takes viewers back to the doo-wop 1950’s, looking at the broken, beginning, and lost relationships of a group of people at a house party. The second and third part of the story will be released in the coming months.

“You Should Be Loved” sets the stage by introducing all of the characters but focusing on a girl in an abusive relationship. The video, like the song, tells her that she deserves better.

Look at you, just look at you
You’re perfect, that’s for sure
Diamond eyes and beauty like I’ve never seen before
You should be shining like a star instead of crying like you are
Held by a man who don’t know what he has
How can I make you see

You should be loved, loved, loved, loved, loved
You should be loved, loved, loved, loved, loved
You should be missed by somebody
Kissed by somebody
Loved by somebody, like me
