With a busy music career, a beautiful girlfriend, a new baby and an energetic little girl in his life, Jake Owen doesn’t have much time for social media these days, but when he does make an appearance on Twitter or Instagram, he sure knows how to make an impact. In his recent Twitter Live, he made that impact in the form of a new song about The Bachelor’s Hannah Brown…”Alabama Hannah.”
Appearing live from “the barn,” Jake explains that after hearing his girlfriend watching the show, he started feeling something for “this Peter guy” — current bachelor Peter Weber.

Back story: If you’re a Bachelorette watcher, then you know Hannah Brown from season 15. Pilot Peter Weber was one of the contestants on the season. In fact, Peter made it all the way to the Top 3. Ultimately, Hannah chose Jed Wyatt, but that relationship did not last. So, tongues were wagging when the new season of The Bachelor kicked off and Hannah was one of the bachelorettes to step out of the limo to an awaiting Peter.
Here’s the moment that Hannah had with Peter:
Whew! Caught up?
Back to our story, Jake explains that he was writing with Ray Fulcher and Drew Parker, and the gentlemen were commiserating with Peter and that, of course, turned into a song.
Now, Jake did make it clear that he has met Hannah and that the song was not intended to be a dig at her, but is more about unrequited love or, more specifically, about that person who refused a potential lover’s overtures, but then returns to the scene of the crime for dating redemption.

“Alabama Hannah, won’t you roll on with the tide,” Jake sings, referencing one of Alabama’s leading university’s sports teams. The line “Alabama Hannah, won’t you get out of my life,” implies that the original pursuer has moved on and suggests she should as well.

Even though Jake mentions a couple of times that the song is not a diss to Hannah and he truly loves her, Bachelor/Bachelorette fans were quick to crucify the country star…
Hey Jake, Did you consider that @hannahbrown was required to appear on the show because she’s under contract? Better yet did you think about consulting with her before releasing this inconsiderate demeaning song? Nah, I didn’t think you did.

…as well as to jump on a non-existent bandwagon.

Fan weren’t the only ones responding to Jake’s new song. Hannah Brown herself had something to say about the little ditty. She took to Twitter with her response. “Well, this is one way to get a song written about you. This is some catchy shade @jakeowen,” she wrote.

According to People, Hannah later took to her Instagram story and shared more feelings about the song. “It’s hilarious and even though it’s like a diss at me the whole time, I was tapping my foot along to it and laughing. You need to check it out!” she said. “Jake, let me know when you need me for the music video.”
Looks like Hannah’s a good sport.
