Look, I am a big Jason Isbell fan and think he is one of the greatest songwriters in Nashville right now. That being said, I agree with Steve Earle that the best music coming out of Nashville right now is made by women. The women of country have better vocal, lyrics, and stronger music than the fellas, that’s a fact. So it is pretty exciting that Isbell is promoting lesser known female artists during his six day residency at the Ryman this October.

The line up includes the incredible harmonies of The Secret Sisters, soul singer Bettye LaVette, alternative singer songwriter Julien Baker, Isbell’s wife and fiddle player Amanda Shires, countrified-blues rocker Lydia Loveless, and gospel singers The McCrary Sisters.

The genre-bending lineup promises to offer some incredible duets and interpretations of Isbell’s music. It will be like an episode of “Crossroads” every night.

October 9th: The Secret Sisters
October 10th: Julien Baker
October 11th: Bettye LaVette
October 13th: Amanda Shires
October 14th: Lydia Loveless
October 15th: The McCrary Sisters
