Jason Isbell is a GRAMMY Award-winning singer-songwriter with a cult-like following of fans. Or as he points out, you may know him from “music.”

Isbell’s life hasn’t been the easiest and he often writes about it. During a recent appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” he noted that he writes a lot of songs about addiction and fatal diseases, but those songs weren’t all that sad.

Isbell has now written the saddest country song ever, covering the topics: unemployment, the troops, liquor, reliable trucks breaking down, the banker-man knocking on your door, ailing dogs, dying dogs and sick mothers.

It truly is the saddest of songs.

Just look at this list of other sad things!
