Jo Dee Messina has announced the release of her new single, “Reckless Love.” The new tune is a message about God, a relationship that Jo Dee found strengthened during her battle with Cancer.
“I started a relationship with the Lord five years ago, six years ago. And it was like he made himself very well-known to me right at the time that I was going to need him,” she said on the Huckabee show. “He is faithful.”
Written by Cory Asbury, Caleb Culver, Ran Jackson, “Reckless Love” has JoDee describing God’s love for us as never-ending and resolute.
“I first heard [‘Reckless Love’] about a year ago and started performing it live,” Jo Dee said in a video. “As I was performing it I started to realize that not everyone was familiar with it’s message. The love that God has for us. It is reckless. It’s without reason, it’s without excuse. We don’t have to do anything or be anything for Him to love us, He just does. And I think it’s so amazing.”
“And oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God / Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine / I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away /Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God,” she sings in the chorus.
Jo Dee released a previous faith-based song, “Bigger Than This,” to which she sang about finding God during a dark time. Jo Dee revealed in Sept. 2107 that she had been diagnosed with cancer. The type of cancer she was battling had not been revealed at the time but ipdates about Jo Dee’s health have stated that she is doing well.
“Many of you have requested updates and we are happy to report that she is feeling well and has kicked off her 2018 shows. She has also been in the studio writing and recording new music. That new music speaks directly to where Jo Dee’s heart was during a tumultuous summer and where it remains today — a place of gratitude for an unconditional, real, and faithful love,” they wrote in the post.
“Reckless Love” is available now.
