Big & Rich’s John Rich is making a political statement that we all might be able to get behind. In his new song, “Shut Up About Politics,” the 45-year-old singer gives us a tongue in cheek look at all the divisive political talk going on in the country.

The uptempo tune, written by John and first time songwriter Fox News host Greg Gutfeld, shares a sentiment that a majority of the country is hoping will come to fruition. STOP TALKING ABOUT POLITICS.

“We wrote this song together called ‘Shut Up About Politics,’ which I think is a pretty good title based on what’s going on in our country no matter what side of the aisle your on, you’re kind of sick of hearing about it,” John told The Daily Briefing‘s Dana Perino.

“It’s the greatest political song ever written because we’re hoping it will be the last political song ever written,” Greg added. “Politics is like bad Botox, wherever you inject it things just go bad.”

Shut up about politics / ain’t nothing but a big pile of dirt tricks / I’m tired of all the fightin’ and the bitchin/ fits / so shut up about politics / You punch left  / I punch right / we’re caught up in the middle of deep swamp fight  / some people lie  / some people steaL/ and everybody’s talking about the green new deal,” John sings to kick off the song.

“It’s kind of a play on words and a pun,” John admits. “We decided that since we wrote it and it was so much fun why not record it in Nashville and make it a download where people in America can actually get it. It’s 99 cents and we’re giving one hundred percent of every download to Folds of Honor.

The charitable organization provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service-members. By end of 2018, Redneck Riviera Whiskey, John’s own brand of Whiskey, had paid for over 44 college scholarships through the Folds of Honor program.

“To me Folds of Honor is one of the greatest ones out there because they pick up and make sure those families fall through the cracks,” John said.
