Josh Turner Enlists Help of His Four Sons to Sing on “River Of Happiness” For New Gospel Album

Josh Turner’s latest album, I Serve a Savior, has the South Carolina returning to his roots. The project has catapulted “The Long Black Train” singer to the top of the charts where he debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart and Top Christian Albums Chart.

“This project was truly a dream come true,” said Josh. “It’s something I have wanted to do for a long time.  God opened the door and I walked through it. When I look back, this will be one of my favorite projects of my career.”

Adding to the many reasons that this album is Josh’ favorite, is the appearance of his four boys, Hampton, Colby, Crawford (Called Marion), and Samuel (Called Hawke), on the song “River of Happiness.”

The singer took to Instagram to share a story behind the song that was written by oldest son Hampton and his wife Jennifer.

“My wife Jennifer and my oldest son Hampton wrote “The River of Happiness,” Josh wrote in his post. “We knew we wanted the boys to sing on the record in some capacity and this song felt like the perfect fit.”

In the video, Josh is seated in a pew talking about how “River of Happiness” came to be.

“It’s fun for all of us to get together and sing and play and perform and all that,” Josh said. “It’s not something that I set out to accomplish. It just kind of happened that way. But Hampton in particular, every time I see him, he’s playing some kind of instrument at home. I don’t know what that means, but I can see a lot of me in that. I’m very proud of all of them they are very capable and very talented.”
