Days after his road crew was involved in a fatal accident, Josh Turner is finding the words to speak out about the unspeakable loss.

In a post on Instagram, Josh shared his thoughts about the man, David Turner,  they lost in the tragic accident.

“As I try to write this I don’t know what to say,” Josh began. “It’s a struggle to put into words the devastation and grief that our road family is trying to process. We lost a beloved member of our team, David Turner. He was like a brother to so many in this industry and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Please continue to keep David’s family in your prayers.”

He continued, “All of our crew suffered significant injuries and many have long roads to recovery. I would ask that you give them privacy during this time.”

Josh then went on to share the GoFundMe page set up for his crew to help as they recover from serious injuries incurred in the crash.

“Many of you have asked where you can support the guys and their families. My management company has created a GoFundMe page for our road family for anyone wishing to contribute. Your prayers have been felt. Please keep praying,” he concluded.

The GoFundMe page reads, “On Wednesday, September 18, shortly after leaving the venue following their concert in Paso Robles, CA, Josh Turner’s crew bus was involved in a devastating accident. A beloved member of our road family was killed and all the surviving crew members have been severely injured and many face long recoveries. So many families have been effected by this tragedy.”

The bus was headed eastbound on Highway 46 in San Luis Obispo County when it crashed in Shandon, Calif. It has been reported that the bus veered off the highway and over an embankment, landing in a riverbed. Two crew members were ejected from the bus. One of the ejected passengers was David Turner.

David Turner, no relation to Josh, was a monitor engineer who worked with Josh since 2006.

Josh has canceled all remaining September shows.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Josh, his band and crew and all their families.
