Keith Urban and Post Malone Mix Genres to Honor the King of Rock N’ Roll

Cross-genre collaborations are not unusual in Music City, but typically, the songs they produced are geared towards one of the two acts participating in the collaboration. However, for the recent NBC “Elvis All-Star Tribute,” country music’s Keith Urban and rap’s Post Malone joined forces to honor the King of Rock and Roll.

And it was fantastic!

Both gentlemen, obviously talented singers, songwriters, and musicians, perched on stools with their guitars for their rendition of “Baby, What You Want Me to Do.” Accompanied by a third guitarist, doghouse bass, tambourine, and another gent tapping out the rhythm on a guitar case,

Keith and the 23-year-old Malone appeared to be having the time of their lives grinning at each other and swapping guitar licks. Post even got into the spirit in a yellow, jewel encrusted and embroidered suit reminiscent of the Nudie suits worn by country music legends.

Following the performance, many music fans (including @elvispresley) took to social media to declare it the highlight of the night.

Another fan even invited Post to cross over to country music, pointing out that the young man is obviously multi-talented.

The night of music was inspired by Elvis’ ’68 Comeback Special, and also included performances from host Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Lopez, Little Big Town, Dierks Bentley, Pistol Annies, Kelsea Ballerini, Darius Rucker, John Fogerty, John Legend, and Shawn Mendes.
