One of music’s most beloved entertainers, Kelly Clarkson, has filed for divorce from her husband of almost 7 years, Brandon Blackstock.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, Clarkson filed in Los Angeles on June 4.
Brandon and Kelly met in 2006 at the ACM Awards but they didn’t begin dating until early 2012, announcing their engagement later that year in December 2012. Brandon, who’s ex mother-in-law is Reba McEntire, is a Nashville talent manager whose clients include Blake Shelton and Clarkson herself. The couple tied the knot in 2013 in a private ceremony in Tennessee. They later welcomed their first child, River Rose, born in 2014 and then their second child Remi Alexander in 2016. Clarkson is stepmother to Brandon’s two children from a previous marriage.

The news comes as a shock to fans who most recently saw the couple quarantining with family at their Montana Ranch. Kelly shared a virtual tour of her ranch as part of her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show in April.
“We officially bought our ranch, Vintage Valley, over a year and a half ago,” Kelly said in the video. “I just love being outdoors. Brandon and I love wide open spaces and coming to the ranch, because both of us grew up in the countryside, one, and two we literally work almost seven days a week if not seven days a week, so when we have time off we really like to check out.”
The couple can be seen spending time making s’mores over a blazing fire with their kids, calling the ranch “home,” in the video.
Kelly hasn’t been shy about sharing her affection and love for her husband. In 2017, the “Stronger” singer revealed how she loves that Brandon makes her feel sexy.
“He makes me feel so sexy. I already am a confident woman — I don’t think that’s a secret,” Kelly shared with ET. “But I love being with somebody who is unafraid of making you feel sexy.”
We wish Kelly and Brandon the best as they move forward on their individual journey.
