Kelly Clarkson spent July 4 in New York City where she performed as part of the annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. While the singer’s set showcased her vocal power, it was on new song “Heat” that had the crowd most energized.
The stage was set in the Seaport District with a breathtaking view of the New York City skyline as the backdrop when Kelly launched into the sultry “Heat.” With a band that included three backup singers and a brass section, the singer impressed on the upbeat number.
Singing alongside blue and red spotlights, Kelly stunned in a blue dress as her powerhouse vocals entranced the crowd. Fans sang along to the new song, featured on her 2017 release Meaning of Life, and waved their American flags high in the air.
An animated performance, Kelly could be found jumping around the stage and spinning in circles as she belted the notes to “Heat.” Meanwhile, plenty of trombone and trumpet accompaniment alongside a pounding percussion beat kept the energy level at an all-time high.
At ease on the New York stage, those lucky enough to attend the outdoor concert rang in the holiday in style with Kelly. Other highlights throughout the evening included Kelly’s performance of her 2012 chart-topper “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” as well as the singer’s collaboration with the West Point Band and Glee Club while performing her own rendition of Irving Berlin’s “God Bless America” in celebration of the song’s 100th anniversary.
In addition to Kelly performing in NYC, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton and Ricky Martin also took part in Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. The 42nd annual show was broadcast on NBC on July 4.
