Kelly Clarkson’s Medley of Hits During Radio Disney Music Awards Proves She Truly Is a Music Icon

Kelly Clarkson has always been an Icon to us, but Radio Disney made it official Friday night (June 22) when they gave the “American Idol” winner the Icon Award during the Radio Disney Music Awards. 

Introduced by current “American Idol” winner Maddie Poppe and “The Voice” winner Brynn Cartelli, Kelly first wowed the crowd when she flawlessly performed a medley of her hits, including “Miss Independent,” “Since U Been Gone,” “My Life Would Suck Without You,” “Catch My Breath,” “Stronger,” “Heartbeat Song,” which she dedicated to her daughter River Rose, and “Heat,” proving just why she is deserving of the Icon Award.

Following her epic performance, Kelly accepted her award was then presented with her award from the two reality show winners. 

“Thank you so much for this. Thank you for one, just requesting my music,” Kelly said in her speech. “All of us can only thank y’all for our careers. Thank you so much for voting and for being a part of our career and allowing us to have one and being there for us an supportive. It really does come down to the fans and that’s what I tell these girls and anybody in the industry. It also comes down to teamwork. I feel like I need to deserve an Icon award and I haven’t done that yet. I feel like I will one day maybe, earn this. I will tell you that nothing in your life will you do without a team of people helping you do it so be sure and know that you are not an island and that it takes a lot of people. So respect those around you, love those you work with and appreciate how hard they’re working for you as well.”
