When you’re an amateur singer competing to win a singing contest, the last thing you want is Kelly Clarkson singing prior to your performance. You simply can’t compare. But on the flip side, when Kelly Clarkson hits the stage of “The Voice,” the show just gets that much better.
Kelly showed contestants and coaches alike, just how it’s supposed to be done when she performed her current single, “I Don’t Think About You,” from her eighth studio album, Meaning of Life,
The song has the superstar singing about exiting a failed relationship unscathed. Through her performance Kelly takes us through a range of emotions with her impeccable high octaves and on point vocals. To add to the musical ear candy, the performance was only enhanced by strings and a gospel melody that brought down the house.
“It used to bother me / Thought I could never leave / After all that I’ve been through, nothin’ left to prove / No, no, no, I don’t think about you / Weighin’ down on me / I lost my sanity / And now that we are through / Nothin’ left to lose / No, no, no, I don’t think about you,” Kelly sings in the chorus.
The mother of two shared her experience with fans on Instagram. “Tonight’s performance was so much fun!,” she wrote. “#IDTAY…. You know, except maybe I think a little about “you” when singing the song because, well, obviously you’re a part of the message hahaha.”
Who is the “you” she speaks of? It’s anybody’s guess. But just listening to Kelly sing anything, is just what the Dr. ordered.
