Kelsea Ballerini Makes History With Fourth No.1 Single and Still Needs Mom When She’s Sick (Which Is Why She’s a Legend)

Kelsea Ballerini’s “Legends” (from her Unapologetically album) is the country music singer’s fourth No. 1 single, making her a part of country music history– not since 2007 has a female Country artist’s debut singles from both of her first and second albums have reached No. 1 on Billlboard’s Country Airplay chart; Carrie Underwood achieved this feat in 2007. “Legends” follows in the footsteps of” Love Me Like You Mean It,” “Dibs,” and “Peter Pan” and Underwood’s “Jesus Take the Wheel” and “So Small” (first singles off her first two albums).

And though it’s quite a big week for Ballerini as she also just kicked off her Unapologetically Tour, she also has the flu, which means she is going miss a scheduled Grand Ole Opry Performance and a team celebration for “Legends.”

In a photo to Instagram, Ballerini shared just how sick she currently is, while still celebrating a little, “Realgram: Legends may be the number one song in country music this week, but I am covered in sweat on the bathroom floor getting cozy with the commode in yesterday’s clothes with my mom coming over so I can lay in her lap until this flu runs its course. // It looks like a cancelled writing session, opry performance, and team celebration. It also looks like life reminding me that I’m not invincible, that even during a mountaintop week it will make me sit down and be humble, and that mommas don’t care if you are on the top of the chart or at the bottom of your bank account…they still make you soup and rub your back and Lysol the bejeesus out of everything the same.”

Still a legend in our book.
