It’s been a couple of years and a few babies since Lady Antebellum released a new single for their fans, but leave it to this talented trio to re-emerge in grand fashion with their new single, “What If I Never Get Over You.”

The song, written by Ryan Hurd, Laura Veltz and Jon Greene is reminiscent of Lady A’s earlier work, showcasing the band’s lead vocalists, Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley, as true duet partners trading off voices, and including Dave Haywood to develop those lush harmonies that we have grown to expect and love from the award-winning team.

As the title implies, “What If I Never Get Over You” absolutely aches with longing and regret as the lyric describes a relationship that has come to an end. It’s unclear who chose to pull the plug on it, but it doesn’t matter as Hillary and Charles each give the mid-tempo ballad such palatable remorse.

Even though none of the members of Lady Antebellum had a hand in penning the future smash, it sounds like something they would write and that becomes even more evident as they take the role of narrators in the video. While we watch the story unfold, we also see all three singers seemingly recalling their own painful break-ups and the possible pain they felt.

Yes, it’s heartbreaking, but it’s also healing, and it’s a great reminder of the type of music that made us fall love with Lady A in the first place.
