Fresh off her win for ACM New Female Vocalist of the Year, announced prior to the ACM Awards telecast, Lauren Alaina stopped by the Twisted X/One Country booth to chat about her big win and having Reba McEntire call her break the news.

“I had no idea,” Lauren tells One Country‘s Kelly Sutton. “The crazier thing is that we knew the award was going to be announced the following Monday, but she called on Saturday. I wasn’t expecting it at all. I was just casually on the bus and there was Reba calling to tell me. It was nuts, I still can’t believe it.”

The first call Lauren made after she got the news was to her dear ol’ dad.

“I didn’t call mom because mom was on the way to the show but I Facetimed Dad,” she revealed. “My dad like sobbed and that was almost better than winning the award. It was pretty sweet.”

The pressure is off for the new ACM Award winner, who can now relax and ease into her role as social media correspondent for the official ACM Awards social media platforms.

Following her ACM duties, the Georgia native will hit the road with Jasno Aldean for his High Noon Neon Tour. The cross-country trek kicks off May 10 in Kansas City, Mo.

“It’s gonna be crazy. I’m very excited,” said Lauren.” Jason was my first tour ever, so I’m really excited to get back out there and show him ow much I’ve grown. And he’s Jason Aldean, so that doesn’t hurt.”
